During the last week of January 2024, the A&R Group Training department elevated Technical Training with an innovative, hands-on training aid. Six aspiring safety champions at Phalaborwa Mining Company were the first to benefit from this advanced approach.

PAS1000 Training Enhancements

The PAS1000 Training has been updated to include comprehensive theory and practical experience for installers, operators, and maintenance personnel. This includes updated training modules for 2023, enhanced operator training with a quick-reference booklet, and a complete overhaul of the Mechanician Training Course to include Engineering Level 1, 2, and 3 certificates.

Mechanician Training Course Revamp

The Mechanician training is a blend of theory and practical sessions designed for intense learning, covering everything from building of looms to fault-finding, culminating in a practical assessment to ensure competence.

The Training department has introduced a mobile rig that simulates a mining vehicle for practical training, a significant innovation over the traditional test bench setup. This rig allows for the installation, testing, and operation of the PAS1000 components in a realistic scenario.

First Training Session Success

The first group trained on this new rig comprised six candidates from PMC who successfully mastered the theoretical and practical aspects of the training, expressing pride in utilizing such an innovative learning method.
