Challenges Faced
Struggling to Manage & Optimise their Locomotives
The Sibanye-Stillwater team needed to improve their locomotive operations. Data was being logged on the locomotive hub underground making data accessibility difficult.
Personnel were required to visit the locomotive with a laptop to download data. It was labour-intensive and inefficient. Their existing system also provided for zero operator tracking or handset controllers.
Solutions Implemented
Locomotive Handsets & Data Management
We provided the team with locomotive handsets and integrated them into our mine management system. Handsets are now issued to locomotive operators via the lamprooms – providing full control over equipment and traceability of operators.
The handsets serve as carriers of data providing management with information on utilization, production output and any infringements.
